Polar
Long before the fitness-wearable phenomenon of the twenty-tens, Polar was manufacturing accessories that measured personal performance. The company filed its first patent in 1977 for a wireless EKG heart rate monitor. The invention was originally used by the Finnish National Cross Country Ski Team as a training aid.
Over the years the company introduced innovative wearables for cycling, swimming, running, group fitness classes and various team sports. In 2015, the United States Women’s Soccer Team wore Polar’s Team2 Transmitter Straps while versing Japan in the World Cup Final.
Polar doesn’t just cater to professional athletes, however. Their product portfolio includes lifestyle, sport and pro lines. At every level, the underlying goal is to understand the unique effects each training session has on an individual’s body. The data gathered by the wearable devices can be used to manage weight, determine the right amount of rest/recovery time and improve overall performance.
Whether you’re preparing for an ultramarathon or simply want to live a healthier lifestyle, the carefully curated selection of Polar products on Gear.com is here help you achieve your own goals and firsts.
